Mucha at the National Art Center

A major exhibition at the National Art Center is devoted to Alfons Mucha, an eminent figure of Art Nouveau.

The National Art Center is celebrating its 10th birthday in 2017. For the occasion, this museum of modern art with its ultra-modern lines located in the Roppongi district has scheduled an event exhibition focused on Alfons Mucha, which celebrates the year of Czech culture at the same time. This great painter and illustrator was one of the foremost representatives of the Art Nouveau style of the late 19th to early 20th centuries. The exhibition presents posters, drawings, illustrations, paintings, and exquisite decorative objects made by the artist. It is a fine opportunity to discover his world and to observe the obvious links between Art Nouveau and the art of Japanese prints, which so inspired European artists.
